TITLE: Day Porter/Custodian
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly (Non-exempt)
PAY RANGE 11: $17.44 to $18.54 (based on experience and education)
SHIFT: 1ST Shift hours (hours may vary by building)
LENGTH: 8 Hours daily/260 days yearly
REPORTS TO: Manager of Facilities Operations, Building Principal and Custodial Supervisor

SUMMARY: Keeps school building or similar buildings in clean, safe and orderly condition by performing the responsibilities listed below.
QUALIFICIATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mainatins all equipment and tools necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Inspect equipment for safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain proper records of perventive maintenance schedules.
- Initiates and completes assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Works without constant supervision.
- Promotes good relations and displays a positive image with parents, students, and staff.
- Assists with complete of trade and non-trade specific maintenance tasks.
- Performs routine custodial activities indiviudally or as a part of a crew at an assigned facility.
- Cleans classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, facilities, and adjacent grounds as assigned.
- Operates custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, strippers, steam cleaners, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipement as assigned.
- Use proper procedures when cleaning bodily fluid spills.
- Complies with safety regulations concerning the mixing, storage and handling of chemical supplies.
- Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors.
- Vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other assigned areas in the building.
- Spot clean and shampoo carpets.
- Empty waste receptacles as needed.
- Assist in the daily student arrival and departure activies as assigned.
- Remove gum and graffiti as necessary.
- Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restrooms facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals.
- Fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items.
- Clean mirrors, tile and windows.
- Unclog drains and toilets as needed.
- Pikc up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to the school facilities.
- Sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school or building facility.
- Clean tables, chairs and floors after breakfast, lunch and all periods as assigned.
- Lock and unlock doors and gates and set alarms as appropriate.
- Maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events; prepare classroom and multipurpose rooms for special events; clean up furniture equipment and debris following any events.
- Monitor inventory levels of custodial supplies and equipment as directed, communicating the need for supplies and equipement to the supervisor.
- Reports immediately any issues that may have an impact to the school, student or employee safety to the building administrator and/or immediate supervisor.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by custodial supervisor, facilities operations manager and/or building principal.
