TITLE: District Assessment/High Ability Coordinator
LOCATION: Administrative Services Center (ASC)
SALARY: $75,000 to $85,300 (Based on education and experience)
LENGTH: 8 hours daily/260 days
REPORTS TO: Student Information System (SIS) Manager

SUMMARY: To assist the School Corporation, on a continuing basis, to coordinate the implementation of assessments for both local, state and federal requirements. Works in collaboration with Directors of Elementary and Secondary Curriculum OR Assistant Superintendents of Elementary and Secondary Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in education or counselor in a K-12 environment required.
- 3-5 years or more teaching experience with a strong knowledge and understanding of both state and local assessments and evaluations required.
- At least 2 years of experience as an assessment coordinator or in school improvement planning or a related field is preferred.
- High level of experience in computer applications and tools for data analysis.
- High level of experience in database administration and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Leadership, communication, organizational and teaming skills.
- Experience in training and leading adults.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and process with frequent interruptions and resetting priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse groups, and speak with employees, students’ parents, and visitors.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and to stay calm in chaotic environments or situations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the administration of the various mandatory assessments including but not limited to ILearn, IRead, SAT, ACT, WIDA, IOWA, CogAT, NWEA and other testing requirements as determined locally, and/or at the state or federal level.
- Facilitate effective, functioning, and consistent assessment practices across the district.
- Oversee, and analyze assessment procedures and outcomes, and report such results to pertinent stakeholders.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop effective strategies for the academic assessment of student learning results.
- Generate and oversee school-wide assessment calendar in conformance with published state/district calendars.
- Coordinate with pertinent stakeholders to ensure students with IEPs are receiving accommodations as directed within the IEP
- Coordinate with relevant parties and IT to set up testing requirements for any online assessments.
- Assign or delegate specific assessment duties.
- Evaluate assessment results and prepare appropriate reports periodically.
- Administer and enable all mandatory assessment training, and handling of testing materials.
- Manage the High Ability programs. This includes following the procedures with fidelity to determine eligibility.
- Supports the district with other mandatory required training as needed.
- Prepares the System to System data reports and unpacking of data. Attends the system to system meetings.
- Prepares data for administrators as requested.
- Collaborates with the curriculum department on assessment information.
- Assists the accountability department as necessary with state and federal reporting.
- Assists the development of district-wide common formative assessment programs in grades K-12 in the core content areas, and other assessments as needed. This includes working closely with teachers (curriculum department, curriculum chairpersons and teacher leaders) in the development of the common formative assessments.
- Continuously read, analyze, and understand updates from the IDOE, ensuring new assessment practices and changes are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to inquiries from teachers and administrators, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendents of Elementary and Secondary Schools and the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Curriculum to share district-level data, using this information to guide instructional practices.
- Participate in administrator and teacher training on ethics/security in testing and proper testing procedures.
- Assist in administrator/teacher training for all schools on test interpretation and statistical analysis of results.
- Attend conferences and workshops to stay current in research and methodologies in assessment.
- Assist in the preparation of informative reports for the Indiana Department of Education, Board of School Trustees and Superintendent.
- Communicate clearly with parent and parent groups on the assessment program in the School Corporation, test data interpretation, expectations of students at all grade levels, end of course assessments and their implications, the student’s responsibility in the education process, and the importance of parental involvement in the schools.
- Facilitate the use of test data as an integral tool for teaching and learning.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
