TITLE:                      Culinary Arts Instructor

CLASSIFICATION:   Certified Position

REPORTS TO:           Building Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience: a minimum of ten years' experience as Executive Chef/Manager OR a minimum of five years' Industry Management experience with an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, OR a minimum of two years' Industry Management with a Bachelor's in Hospitality Management with Associate's in Culinary Arts or related areas.
  • Must be able to get credentialed as Serv-Safe Instructor/Proctor

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Have experience and proficiency in food prep, baking and catering.
  • Relate the principles of nutrition to menu development
  • Exhibit efficient operation of the back-of-the house and front-of-the house procedures
  • Support Prosser Café
  • Maintain department equipment and labs
  • Have excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Maintain inventory and keep records include inventory logs, reference materials, purchasing documents as the guidelines of the school district state
  • Adhere to all Individual Education Plans
  • Follow the state curriculum standards and the dual credit courses if applicable
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and current educational practices; utilizes varied instructional strategies and activities and follow course outline and pacing guides.
  • Establishes, communicates and encourages high standards of student
  • Monitors, assesses, and provides appropriate feedback of student performance and
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students by differentiating instruction through tiered leveled instruction.
  • Performs non-instructional duties affecting the school
  • Manages co-curriculum catering events.

  • Maintains discipline in the classroom, school building and school
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and current educational practices; utilizes varied instructional strategies and activities.
  • Establishes, communicates and encourages high standards of student performance.
  • Monitors, assesses, and provides appropriate feedback of student performance and progress.
  • Keeps attendance reports.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Performs non-instructional duties affecting the school program.
  • Implements school policy and pertinent law.
  • Participates in professional development activities; Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Prepares teaching outline for course of student, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers.
  • Administers tests to evaluate student’s progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Maintains discipline in the classroom, school building and school grounds.
  • Performs related duties, such as sponsoring one or more special activities or student organizations, assisting students in selecting course of study, and counsels them in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or other designee.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
