TITLE:                         Social Worker

CLASSIFICATION:      Non-exempt (Hourly)

PAY RANGE 34:         $30.05 to $31.15 hourly (based on education and experience)

REPORTS TO:             Director of Student Support Services and Child Services Coordinator

LOCATIONS:              Slate Run Elementary School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Social work required;
  • LSW and/or LCSW eligible preferred;
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred; 
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, and Google platform;
  • Exceptional communication skills; and
  • Ability to self-organize work for maximum efficiency and good time management skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives social work related referrals from building based staff and intervenes utilizing school and community resources.  

  • Monitors attendance records for schools; follows up with calls, letters, conferences, and home visits.  

  • Works in collaboration with teachers, administrators, and related service personnel to meet student  needs; consults with school personnel to identify at-risk students; works with parents and families to  collaborate on student needs for referral to community resources. 

  • Maintains and provides follow up documentation to referral sources on status/outcome of referral by  using activity logs and emails; maintains accurate records. 

  • Accesses and links community resources to students, families, and the school in response to identified  needs; works in collaboration with other  agencies and professionals serving children. 

  • Stays abreast of available community resources, community programs and community resource guides and shares information with all schools. 

  • Provides parent education and training regarding issues as they pertain to their child. 

  • Attends or submits reports to case conference committees; assists in developing positive behavior  intervention strategies. 

  • Consults with school staff and parents regarding strategies for helping students cope with personal and  social concerns and assists in crisis situations. 

  • Model strategies for and assist with classroom management practices for working with students with mental health/ behavioral challenges.

  • Provides brief individual and group counseling to students and families who need help with personal  concerns or development problems; completes risk-assessments with students in crisis/ threat to themselves or others.

  • Coordinates referrals to school-based mental health services; links students to mental health services in their schools or the community.

  • Provides professional development to building staff regarding trauma, child abuse/ neglect reporting, suicide prevention, McKinney-Vento Act and other social services.

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by administration.
